Jasmine is convinced Aladdin will just recognize her no matter what she looks like.

And even Iago knows that’s wishful thinking at best.

Random headcanon: I think Aladdin thinks rats are cute, and very smart. (And they can be. I’ve found personally that domesticated rats are very snuggly.) He probably knows everything he does about them because he’s observed and played with them when they were tame enough to come up to him and let him interact with them.

But no. He doesn’t recognize Jasmine.

“Walk on your own feet.”

The tossing part, aside, I really like his gentle hand with smaller animals, here. The line is just really cute and the sort of thing you’d expect an animal lover to say when a rat just randomly saunters up and sits down on your foot.

“Sorry, Genie. I promised myself I’d never misuse your powers.”

…This exchange perplexes me for a number of reasons. The most important, however, is that I’m not sure why Aladdin is still talking about Genie’s powers as though it’s still a tool for him to use. Especially since he freed him like forever ago now and Genie is free to use his powers however he damn well wants.

More with Prince Wazu

So we’re treated to a “Rajah is going to bite the annoying suitor in the ass” joke that everyone sees coming a mile away.

And if you could ignore that his head has just done a horrific 180, the reaction is kinda hilarious.

“I could…hate you.”

Anyway this comes up when the Sultan suggests Aladdin show him the Marketplace. He admits he would take him, if only he knew where it was.

I am choosing to believe he is being deliberately obtuse so he doesn’t have to hang out with him anymore.

Iago raises a good point (again).

So Jasmine and Iago find themselves transformed.

Of course it takes Iago a second longer to figure out what’s going on, but he asks a very good question we had earlier on:

If Fasir promised that wrongdoing would be punished (and Jasmine and the audience are both sure this is what he meant), why is he being punished? He didn’t steal the mirror.

Which, btw, has conveniently broken:

Fasir, you jerk.
