What direction did you think Sadira’s character arc was going?

I was honestly hoping for a longer string of episodes with various enchantments. She was the first female villain I ever saw on the show, so I thought there’d be more of her.

I like the idea of more episodes with more spells but, on the other hand, I wonder how long her crush on Aladdin could hold up as a plot point.

As a child I wasn’t that critical of it. It’s kind of like how as a child I didn’t notice any of Mozenrath’s personality quirks as bratty because it was an older character and his behavior makes sense to a child 😐 Same with crushes.

Sadira that man has a JOB, and it’s not the one you think it is.

Given the growing frustration we’re hearing in Rasoul’s voice, I like to think in this reality, he’s learned to just stick close to the palace because “Princess Sadira” always seems to call for him first when she wants something and he has no idea why.

When I’m really just sitting here thinking she does this because he chased her once and PAYBACK, SUCKER.

Oh look, surprise headcanon!

So Sadira realizes her spell didn’t work on any of the animals. She seems genuinely apologetic when she uses magic to cage Rajah and promises it won’t be for long. You don’t really see her try to level with anyone else like that which just puts the thought in my head that Sadira may have a strong affinity for animals. After all, she’s probably seen animals treated worse than she is day in and day out and they tend to be less judgmental than people.

Well, mostly. Because y’know. Iago.

Genie, if Kronk could translate this without a dictionary, so can you.

A monkey dictionary. Srsly.

Also, I’m not buying how he reacts to Iago and Abu being confused. It’s not like this should be a new thing in the timeline Sadira has created.

Although “Al, Iago’s fallen into a bottomless abyss of delirium” is probably my favorite summation of the situation.

The thing is that Sadira doesn’t fully understand the circumstances that brought all these characters together. So I guess I can’t complain too much that Genie’s a bit…off. It’s like he’s just her fanfiction version of him.

We’ll get to Iago and Abu freaking out here in a second. Bit more on how Sadira behaves here.

“So what do you want to do today, dear?”

We need to take a moment to explore this fantasy Sadira has brought to life and how fucked up it is. It seems like they’re not really doing things she may have thought of doing with him – like getting to know him, finding things they have in common, etc. She’s doing the things she believes Aladdin would do with Jasmine, that people in committed relationships do after they’ve been together forever.

She displays no interest in Aladdin as a person in this setting, beyond just having him there and doing things she believes boyfriends and girlfriends do together.

Think about it. This is the first morning that he’s ever looked at her like that. This is the first time she’s been able to walk arm in arm with him and know he’s thinking of no one else but her. She’s not asking him questions. She’s not learning about him. She’s not bonding with him. She’s just being someone else just for the sake of being with her idealized, fantasy version of him – which is totally flat and without any real depth.

This is what happens when a crush controls reality.
