Conclusion: Fasir — the big reveal, and considerations for villains.

First off, this little bit with Aladdin and Jasmine happens where Jasmine suggests they can’t leave Abis Mal and Haroud in the floating castle because they will probably die up there. Or fall to their deaths. Aladdin agrees and says they’ll go back for them once they can make sure they won’t threaten Carpet again.
I found this interesting because more than once you DO see the heroes leaving the villains someplace perilous and nothing is said of what they do to help (or not help). I wonder if they go back and aid other characters who are left stranded, but I’m willing to bet that it depends upon how much of a threat they consider them to be.
Abis Mal – kind of harmless when his back is against the wall, but I’ll bet you money Aladdin didn’t help Mozenrath dig up his gauntlet in “Lost City of the Sun.”
Anyway, on to Fasir:

Yes, Fasir is Fashoom’s brother, the one who in the story turned him to stone and trapped him. If you watch the episode you’ll note he’s directly named, and you don’t actually know the old blind man is the same person. I knew what his name was because I saw episodes like “Eye of the Beholder” well before I ever saw this one. So it’s only a big reveal if you either knew who he was already and missed his name being mentioned in the prologue or if this was wholly new to you.
This raises some interesting questions. Where do his powers come from? Obviously Fashoom had an eye laser, so what’s the standard for their race? Why is Fashoom a giant while Fasir is not? How involved was Fasir in getting everyone to that castle?
It can be said that Abis Mal intended to steal the eye either way and probably would have succeeded. Presuming he knew how to get there on his own (and WHY DO I SUSPECT FASIR GAVE HIM THAT INFORMATION?). Aladdin would have likely made a lot of the same choices even if he didn’t know about any prophecy.
What this tells me is that Fasir might have engineered this whole adventure as a means of killing his brother. (Or making it that much more difficult for people to steal the eye.) Likely because someone more dangerous than Abis Mal would have wound up there eventually.
Someone who might want the eye or intend to free Fashoom just to cause trouble.
Someone like Mirage.

I think the Mummy Returns stole its completely rushed final battle with the Scorpion King from this episode.

And that’s it. He’s done.
I honestly expected him to make one last appearance before being defeated in this episode because it was over that quickly.
There is so much going on in this episode that it’s just too much for 20 minutes of programming. If they’d split this up into a two-parter I think it could have been one of the very best. But we’re not finished yet!
“Appearances can be deceiving.”

Only if your friends don’t understand basic physics, Aladdin.
Wait a second, Iago.

Where were you keeping that handkerchief?
This would have been much more dramatic if they’d make it look even halfway possible that he could be dead.

Jasmine you JUST. SAW. Abis Mal take the SAME FALL.
Oh, he’s suddenly not stone anymore.

Also I can hear you, Frank Welker. Wait, is this supposed to be the…

Oh bullshit. Mal fell from a much greater height and was fine. You’re not even trying, episode.
I love how Jasmine is just like “you guys do your schtick; I’m GTFOing”

LOVE IT.
This is me all the time.

“I’m okay. My fall was broken. By my spine.”
This is also what should have happened when he dove into that pile of gold.
That’s twice in this episode now.

Where Haroud tricks Abis Mal into doing something he was told to do.

Which amuses the hell out of me ngl but

It would have been funnier if, since they’ve done that joke once already, Abis Mal actually caught on and made him do it. Somebody tell me this happens at some point in the series.
