Of course, the conflict there could have been is resolved faster than it would be in an episode featuring another side character, because as I said before: Carpet is the smartest character in the main cast.

Also I was right in one regard: The Sprites will pick up anything they’re curious about. They are those kids for whom the words “look but do not touch” are understood only separately.

So this is what I meant about these sprites not really lining up with any folklore I’m especially familiar with. Their whole thing is that they seem to interact with the physical world by picking it up – by which I mean they fly around things so fast that it causes them to fly.

We get the impression that they’re curious and checking things out, so they must get something out of just…picking things up and carrying them. I don’t know if they get any sort of special feedback from doing this or if they’re literally just going up to each other going “look what I found!” But either way, as with most classic faefolk, your threshhold for good and evil varies between vindictive and viscious, or – as we see here, well-meaning but deeply irresponsible. As soon as they lose interest in an object they drop and break it. Can’t wait to see how they handle plants, pets, and people.

1. This is to this day the biggest laugh this character has ever gotten out of me.

2. Dandi’s kind of a badass.

3. This joke only works because everybody has already forgotten (though I didn’t show the screencap) that Haroud already knows that Eden is bound to the bottle and told Abis Mal as much. Haroud even lets Dandi know immediately after this that he KNOWS they’re looking for a bottle. …Which leads me to think that Haroud’s just been letting Dandi fuck with Abis Mal because hey, it’s how he gets a little enjoyment out of the day too.

Aladdin, you’re not helping.

An often-referenced moment in the series. I’ve discussed it myself when asked about what I think regarding Mozenrath and his sexual orientation.  He’s…guys, he’s not interested in getting a girlfriend. He’s not interested in sharing his spoils with anybody, and as I’ve mentioned in previous posts – regardless of creepy, threatening behavior – I just don’t think it’s something he thinks about that much. I still sincerely doubt he’d know what to do when it came down to it because he’s had no reason to.

And now I’m going to gush about this redesign because wow. This is gorgeous. Like one of the main complaints I have about Mirage’s original design (that is used in all episodes besides this one) is that her proportions were sometimes really off, largely because the shape of her head lent itself very often to the animators drawing it too big for her body.

This one seems to borrow more closely from the bone structure of the Abyssinian, which makes sense for her as most tales of the breed’s origin are tied to Egypt. It’s also just by and large capable of being more expressive than her original design.

This whole scene is just a marvel to watch because like the rest of the episode, everything is fluid and consistent and very well defined and oh my God why didn’t they keep this design?
